| my favorite DM album would have to be their 2 CD box set 101 (with a great inlay of artwork and photos) which is their live concert at the Pasadena Rose Bowl. I had this on tape in the late 80s and I remember whenever I listened to it inside the car, I get goosebumps whenever I hear that "Good evening Pasadeenaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!! followed by the familiar beat of "Strange Love". I read a 1st hand account of that concert and one could only wish to be there. This is one of their best concert CDs and a greatest hits album at the same time - featuring most of the songs of DM we grew up with. | |

Ok sana ito, PM kaya lang 50USD ang presyo ng isang cd sa ebay at amazon. Magkano iskor nyo dati ? basag, punta ka sa site mismo ni barry scott, mas mura, $35.95 including shipping (within the US i guess) http://www.lost45.com/store.htmlthis series is indeed interesting, una kong napansin ito nung nagshare si emv710 ng Sausalito summernight by Diesel (incidentally Sausalito is a nice cute little town very near San Francisco, just right after the Golden Gate Bridge). The tracks though are mostly music that Americans grew up with in US radio stations in the 70s and 80s, but there are tracks too that we grew up with like the tracks by Stonebolt (hindi si stoney ng h2f ), Sneaker, Rupert Holmes, Men without hats, Kenny Nolan, Chris Thompson, and others. The radio tracks we grew up with esp. from 99.5 RT were different because our stations dared to go against mainstream American top 40. I have some track wishlists that I have on those pricey bootlegs in the 90s which I am still searching for a legit release on CD - like if somebody can direct me to Windjammer's Anxiously Waiting. Also, those OPM exclusive tracks by RT like Old Cafe by Whiteflight, Open Up by G steps, Whiplash by the Rage band, Your memory by Paul Pascal, and of course Mike Pedero's Mahal Kong Love Bus (baka Colin you can come up with a CD of these our very own lost tracks) | |

| *** AS A TRIBUTE TO NEIL ASPINALL WHO RECENTLY PASSED AWAY. LONG TIME FRIEND OF THE BEATLES, ROADIE & CHIEF OF THEIR EMPIRE, ALSO CONSIDERED IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY AS THE "REAL" FIFTH BEATLE*** TITLE : THE BEATLES CAPITOL ALBUMS VOLUME 1 ARTIST : THE BEATLES LABEL : CAPITOL RECORDS US REVIEW : This thread won't be complete without featuring the fab four and their hits. This four CD collectible consists of the 1st four albums that they came out with in the US. Note that track lists are a bit different from the UK release back in the 60's as the top honchos at that time didn't know if the band would make it big. All four CDs are in CD jacket with the original LP artwork for the US. Included in this box set is booklet with liner notes taken from interviews of the boys while they were in the US for the Ed Sullivan show. *** Please Please Me was only a UK version release This is a limited release and is worth every cent that you buy it with particularly for Beatles fan and collectors as well.

REVIEW : A 2CD collectible, this release contains the very rare I'LL ALWAYS LOVE YOU by CRAIG RUHNKE first time on CD digitally remastered as well as IT TAKES TOO LONG - EYDIE GORME . Re-live your bell bottom days and jeepney joyrides as you listen to 36 songs that will surely throw you back to the decade.
Tracklist includes;
STAY AWHILE - THE BELLS, THE MORNING AFTER - MAUREEN MCGOVERN, ALL COMES BACK TO YOU - TINA CHARLES, COULDN'T WE BE FRIENDS - BIDDU ORCHESTRA, SUNLIGHT - THREE DOG NIGHT and a whole lot more. Amazingly, this CD also contains the live version of REMINISCING with the full orchestra intro.

| TITLE : JOIN THE DOTS: B-SIDES & RARITIES 1978-2001 THE FICTION YEARS ARTIST : THE CURE LABEL : POLYDOR RECORDS REVIEW : I'm more than happy to feature this article courtesy of a request. Lately there have been De Luxe Editions available in the market featuring key albums and artists and all of them are quite collectibles(being myself a proud owner of a few). If you are a collector/completist, I recommend you get these de luxe versions as they include rarities and remixes. I particularly instead got this 4CD boxset of THE CURE. I am a fan of the band(though didn't have the opportunity to watch them perform in HK this year) and went extra getting this gem. This 4CD boxset contains 70 tracks(with 10 unreleased songs) as well as a 76 page booklet featuring rare photos. This boxset was also put together by the man himself Robert Smith. The difference between this and the de luxe edition is this a more comprehensive item which truly defines the band during their formative years up to their heyday. Make no mistake though, this gem contains tracks some of which are really mind blowing. This boxset does not contain their big hits but instead carries all their hidden gems that are worth collecting as well as songs that you might have heard but couldn't find (case in point (10:15 Saturday Night) There is a GREATEST HITS out there with a DVD if you are interested, Let me know if you want this to be reviewed as well. NOTABLE GEMS : 1. 10:15 Saturday Night 2, Do The Hansa 3. Purple Haze 4. A Forest(Mark Platt Mix) 5. Lament(Flexipop Version) 6. Just Like Heaven(Dizzy Mix)

| TITLE : THE GUESS WHO (Retro Collection Series) ARTIST : THE GUESS WHO LABEL : SONY BMG ENTERTAINMENT PACKAGING : gatefold carton sleeve jacket REVIEW : To some this might come to you as a question but to people in the know, GUESS WHO are one of the pioneers of modern day rock. Got together in the 60's this Canadian band made the airwaves in the US because of the song NO TIME. This 18 track collection puts together their hits from days gone by as well as rare gem that you'd be surpirsed to find here. Most of the tracks were previously included in their 1971 Greatest Hits package but some didn't make it there. This I would say is one of the more appealing comps from the band. This release is worth every centavo you spend for it (cheap!). For those who remember this, that means you've experienced rock in its infancy leading to what now is known as rock! KEY TRACKS : 1. UNDUN 2. YOUR NASHIVILLE SNEAKERS*** 3. THESE EYES 4. AMERICAN WOMAN+++ 5. LAUGHING 6. NO SUGAR TONIGHT/NEW MOTHER NATURE SON 7. WEDNESDAY IN YOUR GARDEN *** Previiously available only in the album/CD "Rockin" this track was very popular on radio in the Philppines. +++ This is the album version which contains a bluesy intro of Burton Cumming's vocals accompanied by guitar only leading to the full band version. | |

| *** THIS IS A TRIBUTE TO THE INSTRUMENTAL BAND ELECTROMANIACS WHO RECENTLY RE-UNITED TO PERFORM ON MAY 2 AT THE NBC TENT FOR THE EVENT YEBA!***ARTIST : THE ELECTROMANIACS ALBUM : LOVER'S GUITAR LABEL : DYNA RECORDS REVIEW : Seldom do we come across music released on CD that features key filipino bands of the 60's and this re-issue of the much coveted instrumental band is a gem. Ask any music lover of the 60's about the band scene during their time and quickly before you end your question a reply flies back at you mentioning Electromaniacs right away. In the tradition of instrumental groups like THE VENTURES, THE SHADOWS The Electromaniacs is on top of the list of instrumental bands in the Philippines. This CD features their hit single entitled LOVER'S GUITAR originally done instrumentally by 60's Spanish instrumental group LOS JETS. Get a load of pure pinoy instrumental at its best with LOVER'S GUITAR by THE ELECTROMANIACS. TRACKS : 1. LOVER'S GUITAR 2. TAHITIAN SRUMS 3. LAGRIMAS 4. ROOT OF LOVE 5. PICADOR 6. ESPAŅA CAŅI 7. OH, LONESOME ME 8. SWINDLER 9. MORE 10. LOOP-DA-LOOP 11. I MISS YOU SO 12. I LOVE "D" Recomended research : If you are interested to know more about filipino music heritage in the 60s, research about several key groups such as THE TECHNICOLORS, THE DELTAS, MOONSTRUCJKS, DOWNBEATS, TILT DOWN MEN, THE CELTICS,, SUNDOWNERS, THE FABULOUS ECHOES. If you do have information or music about pinoy sixties I'd really appreciate it if you can share them with me as well. | |

| great post colin! if I may add, thanks to people like you colin, my interests in music have deepened and widened, to include even music when most of us have not been born yet or too early to appreciate music. I have shared this article to colin before - here's a small excerpt of a very interesting and lengthy article about the evolution of Pinoy rock, featured in a TV Times article dated 1979. | |

| since then, this has become one of my cherished 45s; very seldom that both sides (Side B is "I Miss You So") were massive hits before. even I couldn't believe that this 45 has withstood more than 40 years with hardly a scratch, if this was released before 1964 when most of us were not born yet. It still plays greatly, producing that rich deep sound of the electric guitar like you were listening to it Live. I'm sure all vinyl lovers here have this kind of experience - whenever I play this vinyl, parang nagiging black and white ang paligid ko ; really strange but true | |
