| This is a great CD. It was originally released in the late 70s. That was the time when jazz music was starting to invade the Philippine airwaves through DWWK FM(101.9).
I can fully relate with this CD. You can check out the songs "Metamorphosis" and "Thank You Miss Scott".
Mother Father Sister Brother (MFSB) Band is great!
PS. Other hits of the group not included in this album are "My One And Only Love", "TLC", "TSOP" and of course those mentioned already above. | |

| TITLE : THE BEST OF THE FUNK BROTHERS(The Millenium Collection) ARTIST : THE FUNK BROTHERS LABEL : MOTOWN YEAR OF RELEASE : 2004REVIEW : Ever wondered why The Supremes, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, The Temptations, The Contours, Marvin Gaye, David Ruffin, Little Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5, Four Tops, Martha Reeves & the Vandellas and other Motown act sounds so similar? Well these are the unsung heroes of Motown. The Funk Brothers were the backbone musicians of all Motown artist that you can think of. These are the group of gentlemen that shaped the generation of soul!!!! Talk about inspiration, these guys were "it" all the riffs, hooks that we know of to this day came from the "snakepit" which they fondly called their recording room. Almost forgotten by history, these men finally received the acollade and honor that the entire music industry owes them. you might be surpirsed to find out that not all Funk Brothers were black, there were two white gentlemen that played alongside their black brothers. I can go on and on about them but I suggest you do some reading about them and you'll find it very interesting. And for guitar enthusiast, the Wah-wah pedal being played by guitar sessionist Al Coffey(not a member of the Funk Brothers) in the late 60's was first noticed and used widely when the song CLOUD 9 by The Temps hit the charts. And for bass guitar enthusiasts, James Jamerson (guy standing in the extreme right of the cover) is known as the godfather of modern bass playing. The guy sitting in the extreme left is Robert White, the guitar player that composed the opening guitar riff in the song MY GIRL. ***Suggested buy: STANDING IN THE SHADOWS OF MOTOWN de luxe edition (tribute CD featuring Chaka Khan, Ben Harper, Joan Osborne, etc..) can still be bought in retail stores in the Phils. | |

| Together with the Tilt-Down MenIngenuity, Refinement, Professionalism, Glamor and Plain old hard work... These are the ingredients that make up this sensational album... the best of its kind ever produced locally. Tito Sotto, lead singer and lead guitarist, proves his musical ingenuity and refinement through his original compositions... His brother, Val Sotto, who plays bass and does most of the instrumental double tracking, adds professionalism to the album with his own song... The drummer, Bing Dizon, sometimes called the Rhythm and Blues Man always chips in with his vocal prowess and combines his musical faculties with the piano organ and vibes virtouso, Del Pascual. Find out... what their popularity is all about... | |

| It’s nice to know Colin does also collect a preppy kind of music. We share the same sounds in that respect. I have a number of those in the selections you cited but in separate CD album artist-wise. Into the Night, Trapped In A Stairway and Hot Rod Hearts are indeed some of the many cool sounds I have been enamored with up until now. | |

| TITLE : THE ULTIMATE HALL & OATES ARTIST : HALL & OATES LABEL : BMG HERITAGE REVIEW : Who said white men can't sing no soul? these two guys revolutionized soul when they first came out. they were so into Philly soul that even black artists were impressed with the way they perform. this 2CD comp puts together all thier hits from the 1st album to the last album they came out in the early 90's. This is in my opinion the most comprehensive comp ever put together to feature this duo. | |

| Evelyn "Champaigne' King was part of the mid 70's early 80's generation of artists that wanted to crossover from disco to pop. She has quite a reputation as asinger and backing vocalist. She was big in the U.S. but didn't make much wave the rest of the world unlike Natalie Cole. | |

| Hi Guys, Saw that the day it came out.(hehe inistorbo ko pa si derf nung gabi, am still waiting for my copy though). FYI....if you guys are interested in having original label releases, VICOR MUSIC was recently sold to VIVA RECORDS (being that Vic Del Rosario was the original owner together with Orly Ilacad). So if you have spare bucks, buying Vicor labelled CD pressed up to 2007 you should. the next time they release Vicor artist will be labelled under Viva. The value of vicor labelled CD will surely shoot up among collectors. My prediction/fearless forecast...Viva will start re-issuing TITO MINA, FLORANTE, HOTDOG, VST, and other titles that hasn't been available in the market for a long time....that's just me though Inside info: Vicor had plans in re-issuing on CD the album 'Gapo' 1 & 2 but production got caught in the buyout. Hopefully they will continue to release it. Derf....please advise if the HOTDOG track is a re-recording or not. I know UR released a BEST OF HOTDOGS but was pure re-recording by Dennis Garcia. I agree with Derf, the ONLY notable track is TOTOO BA ANG TSISMIS. Someday soon we'll get that elusive BADAF FOREVER as clean as the day it came out. - derf wrote:

This 2CD comp features all their hits plus a few more tracks that deserve the same accolades as the other bands in the 80's. KEY TRACKS : 1. LIONS IN MY GARDEN 2. WHEN LOVE BREAKS DOWN 3. APPETITE 4.
