CD RECOMMEND WORTH BUYING

Hi All,

Here's a topic I thought might help everyone in finding out if the music they're looking for is still available or not.

Once in a while I'll try to post a CD which features either rare songs that you thought was not commercially available or something that is worth buying.

Feel free to add your posts but I urge you to post items that you think is worth buying. Please include pertinent information so that we get an idea what the CD contains:

REVIEW : Released in 2004, this 2CD compilation features all their hits plus remix versions on disc 2. To some die hard fans, this might not be a definitive CD but what makes this worthwhile is the fact that once you play it you, you won't stop singing with it let alone dancing to the tunes.

This release is available only in the Philippines and you might want to check this out.

REVIEW : Another Jazz CD release with tremendous collectible tracks packed in one! With the advent of jazz fusion in the mid 70's, jazz artists expermiented with pop, soul & RnB and infused it in their recordings. This CD features HARD TO FIND songs in pristine remastered audio and this sort of tracklist will never happen again. Sadly though this CD is deleted but you might come across one of these in second hand stores.

This collection contains 22 digitally remastered tracks, 10 of which are from his original A SAMBA SONG LP that debuted in 1976. This maiden album is probably considered the first local jazz album, is often revered and has left an indelible imprint in the annals of Philippine Samba music. The inclusion of these tracks is worth the price of admission alone.

For OPM jazz lovers, here’s another CD worth buying. It’s quite ironic that I was able to purchase this OPM CD not in the Philippines.

A collector’s CD shelves would be incomplete without the CD albums of the likes of Peter Allen and Andrew Gold. They are worth buying, indeed.

I bought a copy of this recently and I certainly agree with Colin that this is a very good buy. What intrigued me, however, was ollirac's amazing discovery. Among those acknowledged were none other than our very own Ed Valenzuela (emv710), Frederick Martin (Derf) and Wilbert Limvalencia (Limva). Cheers!

great and rare Bong Penera's CD, taghirap - starting bid of Bong Penera's Samba Song vinyl at eBay is 14500 pesos.

great CDs of Peter Allen and Minnie Riperton, amicus - it's just missing some

For collectors, all their LPs, EPs, Singles are a must to collect. There are a lot of DC5 CDs on the internet but the only legit CD that was approved by Dave Clark himself was this release. Hollywood Records was able to acquire the license to release this collection with which Rhino Records followed suit with a numbered limited release but was immdiately deleted due to disagreements between Dave Clark's management and Rhino Records.

Hi Colin,I have this exact CD for quite sometime now! So far I think that this is the best OFFICIAL release on cd for the group.As far as I know,Dave Clark(a very wise businessman) still hasn't released his old stuffs on CD by the album.I've got several(bootlegs) from Hungary.That's how I got a copy of their songs.Sad to hear about Mike Smith(some people thought that he was Dave Clark since he was on lead vocals)

REVIEW : To all oldies but goodies fans this little package is the right stuff for you. 4CDs packed with pure unadulterated retro hits from the 60s. As the title implies, this boxset contains 100 songs across the pop genre. What's also surprising with it is that I was able to get this a little over Php 500.00. Not bad! This collection contains all original artists with no re-recordings. Unlike other comps I bought, this CD contains hits that was only popular here. In terms of rarity, you'll get loads of it if you're a die hard 60's fan.

Though several albums have been released on CD, This BEST OF release is one of the most definitive compilation out there. Unlike TRINI LOPEZ, Chris had the sophisticated approach to party/cocktail music. While Trini was more on the club/party atmosphere, Chris was more on the relaxed seaside approach. A&M released several BEST OF series (including THE SANDPIPERS) and this title is a certified collectible. Your friends in Japan can surely buy this one as this was released exclusively in Japan.

REVIEW : You might wonder why this CD is featured in this section but the reason for this is that this particular CD will be HARD TO FIND very soon. Try asking around the record bars and you'll be surprised to find out that it's quite difficult to get. They're selling this CD around Php 75.00. Not bad for the price.

To younger readers, this is the first album that the band came out with which features EVA MARIE, DI PA HULI, and WINDOWS OF OUR SOUL which features Pido Lalimarmo on vocals.




*** SIDE A Anthology is also a great treat as it puts together all their hit songs (from Ivory Records, Vicor Records, Warner Phils,) in one album.

For LR fans, this is a must buy.
